LVC Auxiliary to disband after 93 years

For 93 years, the Lebanon Valley College Auxiliary has raised money for various things it regarded as bettering the general welfare of the college.

It has given money to the library and bought furnishings and vacuum cleaners amongst other contributions. In recent years, the auxiliary donated money to help pay for airfare for LVC students who study abroad.

"Just things to help out with the college where they needed it," said Pauline Charles, a past president and a member since 1989.

Beyond the generosity, the auxiliary's gatherings were also a time for members and other friends of the college to socialize.

"We had a wonderful time together," Charles said.

Following the paths of many other college auxiliaries around the country, the LVC Auxiliary will cease to exist after its final meeting on Thursday. The auxiliary is disbanding primarily because of declining membership, said current President Ellen McGill.
